In the previous few posts, we have talked about the nomenclature of carboxylic acid derivatives such as acids, esters, amides, nitriles, and also the strategy for naming compounds with multiple functional groups. Most of the following examples contain more than one functional group and you need to name them based on their priories which are summarized in the following table. Remember, the highest priority defines the suffix for the compound and the other ones are described with a prefix.
