One of the trickiest questions in Stereochemistry is the relationship between molecules. The reason for this the addition of the stereoisomers to the constitutional isomers and the possibility of being confused between different drawings of the same molecule. Stereoisomers, in turn, can be Enantiomers or Diastereomers and if you add to this the different representations such as the Newman, Sawhorse and Fischer projections, it is a lot – as the practice shows.
However, you need to learn this and be able to deal with the questions. The following practice problems will go over determining the relationship between molecules that drawn in different notations. In may examples, where stereochemistry is involved, we will also determine the R and S configuration, which is the only sure way of knowing the relationship of molecules.
